The Material Balance Specialist role will work in cooperation with and in support of the Manager of Liquid Measurement and the Supervisor of Liquid Measurement. The Material Balance Specialist interfaces with Engineering, Operations, Distribution, Laboratory, and Measurement personnel. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Performs daily balancing functions for assigned assets, facilities and pipelines.
  • Responsible for certifying the meter inputs into the balances are correct.
  • Ensure accurate reporting of measurement balance activities.
  • Assist in the mitigation of measurement imbalances.
  • Implementation of measurement policy and procedures.
  • Responsible for writing daily product movement tickets for the assets that are assigned. The tickets must be written in a timely manner and correctly, including the correct lab analysis.
  • Expected to work with Houston Distribution and external customers to answer questions and issue tickets.
  • Understanding and performing the gain/loss balances on the assets that are assigned; which includes reviewing the product headers and the measurement headers.?
  • Working as part of a team to research and investigate measurement imbalance issues on the headers.
  • Issuing balancing reports in a timely manner and with minimal errors.
  • Performing the monthly closing duties during the first four days of the month, such as completing the entry of all monthly tickets, resolving any outstanding issues, and writing the product header gain/loss tickets.
  • Interact with external and internal customers and make decisions based on those interactions.
  • Keeping supervisor informed of any unresolved issues throughout the month.
  • Cross-train on other Material Balance Specialists' job duties.
  • Communicate with Measurement and Lab personnel about meter and lab analysis problems.
  • Make site visits to operational and meter station locations.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:
  • High school diploma or G.E.D equivalent.
  • College hours or Associates degree is a plus.
  • Previous experience in a plant or technical environment is a plus.
  • Five (5) years or more of accounting experience or related industry such as oil and gas or chemical.
  • Understands and demonstrates computer functionality and have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiar with the accounting systems used by Material Balance.?????
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple tasks with limited supervision.???
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively and perform in a leadership role.
  • Honest and forthcoming with details associated with gain/loss issues, mitigation and dispute resolution with customers.???????????
  • Proficient math and analytical troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.
