The Material Balance Engineer (Liquid Flow Computer) will be responsible for the improvement and maintenance of existing flow computers, evaluation and integration of new flow computer and measurement technologies, and new installation oversight and assistance. Daily activities will include maintaining 1500+ flow computers in the existing liquid pipeline system, configuring computers for installations, and reviewing and commissioning systems. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Support the existing flow computer install base with issue troubleshooting, configuration auditing and verification, installation design review and improvement, and hardware recommendations.
  • Work with other functional groups and project managers to procure proper hardware, support new installations, device upgrades or expansions, and custom configurations to accommodate specific local needs.
  • Become proficient in liquid measurement practice, standards, and applications including measurement equipment, installation, proving, calibration and communication.
  • Assist with system verification and commissioning of new and modified field equipment.
  • Work with Measurement and Material Balance personnel to aid in identifying unit balance issues and potential improvement projects with measurement systems.
  • Conduct routine and topic specific audits of flow computers on an individual and systemic basis.
  • Assist with data integration into polling systems and mass balance computer systems and ensure proper data transfer.
  • Conduct field and bench testing of various flow computer functions or new functionality.
  • Evaluate new flow computer technologies and equipment for use within existing and new systems.
  • Train other employees to proper operation and interaction with flow computers.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications
  • BS in Engineering, preferably in Electrical Engineering, is required.
  • A minimum of 1 year associated controls background is required.
  • Hydrocarbon measurement experience is preferred.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Solid interpersonal skills and the ability to work alone or lead a team to resolve issues.
  • Must be a self starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities without daily direction.
  • Computer proficiency – including spreadsheet and scripting exposure.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.
